Alumni Stories: our why
Here at Cut it Forward HQs we firmly believe that this work must start with those who have the lived experiences of growing up in foster & adoptive care, and who have faced ethnic hair and skin care barriers directly. This is why we have developed a committee of foster and adoptive alumni to ensure that everything we do is centered and purposeful in addressing the need of ethnic hair and skin care resources for the families we serve. In this video the committee shares the importance of adequate hair and skin care resources for youth of color from their personal perspectives. We are so proud of their bravery and dedication to improving the systems that serve our youth. #fosterforward

2018 Year-End Review
2018 was a big year for us! After years of planning, collaborating, advocating, and volunteering to address the Ethnic hair and skin care needs for foster and adopted youth of color, our vision has come into fruition. Cut it Forward would not have been possible with out the many angels who have donated, volunteered, supported, and cheered us on along the way. Here is a snapshot of some of our biggest moments in 2018. We are so excited for what 2019 has in store as we continue to design resources for Ethnic hair and skin care support for our brothers and sisters and foster and adoptive care, and their caregivers. Happy 2019! #cutitforward

Ethnic hair and skin product drive
Our Teen Service Board has launched it's first project: the Ethnic Hair and Skin Care Product Drive! This drive has a goal to collect ethnic products for our community partners' pantries at Pivot Youth Shelter, Citizen's Caring for Children, and Northcare. Each of these agencies serves foster and/or adopted youth and have had struggles accessing products that meet their families' needs. We are grateful to collaborate with our amazing partner drop-off locations where you can donate a skin or hair care product through the duration of the drive!
